Building Project Appeal Overview

Building Project: The Vision

We want to create a building with ALL the facilities to support our aim of serving our community and seeing the Kingdom of God grow through people coming to Christ and Christians growing in maturity.

This includes:

  • The church being open 7 days a week with simultaneous activities going on.
  • Providing a welcoming interface with our local community
  • Opportunity for more people to come to the services
  • Providing a HQ whatever our development in the future
  • The hope of lasting another 150 years!

Building Project: The Need

The present church building was constructed in 1857. It is in an ideal location on the edge of the City Centre, and part of an inner city district. BUT: It is no longer fit for purpose.

There are:

  • No proper kitchen facilities
  • No accessible disabled toilets
  • Inadequate facilities for community use
  • No suitable space for growing youth work
  • Lack of space for activities e.g. outreach
  • Main worship area too small

Something MUST be done.

Building Project: The Scheme

The scheme joins together the church and the house next door. (The church already owns the house next door). This creates a new entrance lobby, and makes full use of the site. Also, the existing church building is extended to the back of the site, and a first floor put in along the whole of the extended church building. This will increase our floor space by 76%. It will provide all the facilities we need to meet our Vision. Planning permission was granted on 1st June 2011.

Building Project: The Cost

Budget costs are £700,000. We ourselves have raised £380,000 so far. This represents real sacrificial giving from among a congregation of around 150 adults. But we now need help from others.

Will you help us?
